Our Services A - Z - Critical Care, Surgery and Cardiology Therapy Team

We are a team of Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists who provide a Therapy service to the patients on the Surgery, Cardiology wards and Critical Care. We also provide the respiratory Physiotherapy service for the Paediatric wards. We provide a blanket cover service for ITU, here we offer daily respiratory assessment and treatment, we assess mobility and progress rehabilitation aiming to return the patient to pre-admission baseline.

On the surgical and cardiology wards we run a referral based service which is available to patients who are needing input to return to preadmission mobility, if this cannot be achieved in the time they are in hospital we plan discharge to make them safe outside of hospital with input from community services. We liaise daily with the wider MDT by attending board rounds and we also pre-operative clinics, i.e. bowel, renal and breast school.
