About the service
All adults with Gynaecological conditions are suitable for referral to this service. The service will assess and treat patients who present with a Gynaecological condition.
This Community Gynaecology service provides an alternative community service for the residents of St Helens CCG GP registered adult (16+ years) population. The service delivers full assessment, advice, appropriate procedures and associated support for the range of gynaecology procedures listed.
- Insertion / removal of IUCD for menorrhagia
- Insertion / removal of shelf / ring pessary
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (within PLCP guidelines)

Miscarriage can be a very frightening, unhappy and lonely experience. It can be even more upsetting when the miscarriage is incomplete and more treatment is needed. The Buchanan Suite staff are here to support you at this difficult time.Hysterectomy is the removal of a woman's uterus (womb) and cervix surgically. An LAVH is the removal of the womb using both keyhole surgery and vaginal surgery. It is performed for a variety of reasons and is a less invasive alternative to open surgery.Endometrial ablation is the destruction of the womb lining in order to treat heavy periods. There are a number of ways of doing this. Novasure is a quick, safe method which can potentially be done without a general anaesthetic.
