NO CHANGE to Covid-19 safety measures at local hospitals

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has confirmed that existing safety measures to protect patients, staff and public from COVID-19 at Whiston, St Helens and Newton hospitals, as well as at other community settings in the area such as St Helens Urgent Treatment Centre, are set to continue from Monday 19th July, despite the easing of restrictions elsewhere.

With cases of infection still spreading both nationally and locally, the Trust has announced that everyone accessing or visiting healthcare settings must continue to wear a face covering, clean their hands and follow social distancing rules. Visiting restrictions will also remain in place to ensure patients and staff are protected.

Professor Rowan Pritchard Jones, Medical Director said: “Covid-19 remains a real and present danger and we must continue to protect everyone. Therefore, there will be no change to our existing safety measures from Monday 19th July. It is vital that we continue to do all we can to reduce the risk of infection and protect our most vulnerable patients and staff from this devastating virus. Everyone has a part to play in helping to control Covid by getting vaccinated and acting responsibly and I am appealing to the public to continue to follow our safety guidance, wear a mask, clean your hands and socially distance to protect themselves and our staff.”
