Going Home

If you have been prescribed any medicines, you will be given a supply to take home with you. You will also be given a letter to bring your GP up-to-date on your treatment and the drugs (if any) prescribed for you.

You will be told of any after effects of treatment, what to do, and who to contact if you are worried. You will also be advised if a district nurse will visit, whether you have to visit your GP, or come back to the hospital for a check up.

You need to tell the ward if you need a sick note.

Following a General Anaesthetic (GA) please arrange for a relative or friend to take you home after your operation and stay with you for up to 24 hours.

You should not drive yourself or travel along by public transport, including taxis.
