Welcome

I am very pleased to welcome you to the St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Lead Employer internet pages.  We have put information within these pages which we hope you will find useful, including a section containing Frequently Asked Questions which will be continually updated to reflect the questions we are being asked.  We are also developing a section containing useful forms, where we will endeavour to put forms to assist you with requests for annual leave, study leave, travel expenses etc.

As you will be aware, the Trust has been selected by the Mersey Deanery as the single Lead Employing Trust for all Doctors in Training engaged on hospital placements, with the exception of foundation trainees.

The Trust is responsible for the employment of all Doctors in specialty training programmes within hospital placements. GP's currently based in practice placements will transfer to the employment of the Trust on 1 December 2010.

As your employer, we are responsible for the management of all aspects of your employment contract regardless of where you may rotate to during your specialty training with the Mersey Deanery. 

We intend to refer to the Organisations you are placed at as 'Host Organisations'. As you rotate on placement, each Host Organisation will manage your day to day requirements as though you were an employee of theirs. 

We are currently developing a suite of policies and procedures that will be written specifically for Doctors in Training.
