The Spiritual Care Department is here to care for the spiritual, pastoral and religious needs of patients, staff, and relatives of all faiths (and of none). We can put you in touch with faith leaders of all backgrounds from within the community as well as offering a listening ear if you want to talk to someone about things that might be worrying you during your hospital stay. It is as important to look after our spiritual needs as it is for our physical needs to be taken care of.
If you would like a Chaplain to visit please ask ward staff to pass on your request or contact us direct. There are volunteers who visit the wards each day; some of these assist by giving Holy Communion. They, along with members of staff, can also call a Chaplain if you would like one of us to visit you.
Weekly services are held at Whiston Hospital in the Sanctuary as follows:
From 16:20 Roman Catholic Mass
13.00-14.00 Roman Catholic Exposition
Bedside Communion is available for all patients on request on any day of the week.
The Sanctuary is also used as a Multi Faith Prayer room, especially on Fridays (13.00-14.00) for Muslim Prayers.
